Team STEAM’s main yearly challenge is FIRST Robotics Competition, available for all high schoolers.

FIRST Robotics aims to combine the excitement of sports with the rigor of science and technology, providing students with a challenging yet fun task.

Teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Playing on a field the size of a basketball court, teams manipulate game pieces in a challenge that changes yearly. With a limited time-frame, students learn all sorts of helpful skills including teamwork, leadership, and time-management, as well as the technical skills vital to the operation of a robot.

FIRST is an excellent opportunity for learners and experienced FIRST members to compete!
